The Professional Standards Division consists of a Captain who oversees the training and development of all employees, both sworn and non-sworn at the Sheriff’s Office. The Professional Standards Captain also works closely with the Human Resources Department on the hiring and recruitment processes in addition to the investigations of citizen complaints or internal employee misconduct. The Professional Standards Captain is the direct supervisor of the two division lieutenants, working closely with them to assure their employees have the knowledge necessary to carry out their duties effectively, and to the standard the public demands of their Sheriff’s Office.
The Professional Standards Captain manages the internship program, citizens academy and occasional public outreach services.
